Satta-A-Masagana
With all this roots reality running the show it seems natural for Abyssinians old classic to reappear. Capleton's Raggy Road, Morgan Heritage's Live Up, cuts from Anthony B and Sizzla and the rest of the new roots clan are all mashing up Babylon system.

This sample is the unmatched (by far) original. The tune was cut at Coxone's Studio One in 68-69 by Abyssinians, the first tune they did as a group. For some reason Coxone "put it pon shelf", as the expression goes. The reason was surely not, as is common these days, to cash in later. Either he didn't realise the commercial potential of the emerging roots music or he just didn't like the tune. After two years, some negotiating and a lot of saving Abyssinian managed to by the tune from Coxone. It's a bit strange that they didn't rerecord for some other producer instead, and do as the current roots artists, i.e. produce a inferior version.
