Rockfort Rock
Not very often versioned, but it happens every once in a while. Studio
One of course, Sound Dimension featuring a very distinct bassline and
a even more distinct horn melodi.
This is the original cut, but unfortunately the horns are missing. This
is because the clip got so long it to long to load it. You'll have to do
without it, or do as I did, purchase the absolutely vital double CD
"Respect To Studio One". (I was adviced by Maple, who had the nerve to
call me a "Studio One Rookie". That's what I call an insult!!!
Unfortunately he's right :-( . Well, I'm working on it and my work with
JAMRID should at least merit me as Studio One rookie of the year. Should
have included that in JAMRID -97 AWARDS)
Not very often versioned, but you hear it every once in a while.
Two of the wickedest soundbwoy burials ever are cut on this riddim.
S&C made a version of this riddim in the beginning of the nineties
and cut Bananamans Soundbwoy On Your Knees and Johnny Osbournes absolutely
murderous We a De Don on it. On the S&C cut the horns are missing,
but that doesn't stop Johnny O from SINGING the hornline!
I see the dub selecta stand
with his back aginst the wall
watching how we ram danchall.
shouting out we a de don
shouting out we a de don!
Don't know if Johnny cut anything on the riddim while he was at Studio One,
but he sure remember the melody, even if he doesn't seem to remember what
key it was in;-).
The two cuts can be found on a two riddim LP called "S&C presents
21-century soundclash", but I doubt the LP can be found these days.
The LP isn't very consistant anyway, but those two cuts are crucial if you,
like I do, like soundbwoy burials.
