Secrets, perhaps the most popular traditional riddim of 2008. Produced by Don Corleon, who with the Drop Leaf riddim started the whole one drop trend a few years ago. A bit to soft for my taste this one and miles from Drop Leaf and Seasons, but still nice… This is Jah Cures tune Miles Away.
A few word on the bright hope of traditional reggae music - Jah Cure. Not much going on musically, a few releases but nothing spectacular.
However, there are other sides to Jah Cure. He did a lot of touring during 2008 and I hope you got a chance to se him. I did and I was totally blown a way. Perhaps my expectations wasn’t to high and that was a factor, but I was really impressed. Great stage presence, incredible singing and the songs was even stronger live the on record, particularly the softer ones.
I think Cure was also busy recording songs for his next long player, Universal Cure. The CD was to be release late -08 last year but it still hasn't been released as I write this.
Also, another thing happened that, as far as I know, hasn't happened since I-Wayne first album, the album became available at the P2P networks before it's release! I got hold of it sometimes during the fall -08. If you haven’t heard it - yes it's a very good album. Not sensational but solid. I had high expectations, and I can't say I was disappointer.
Perhaps this is the reason for the postponed release... why release an album that many of the hardcore fans already have heard? In particular from a promotion perspective. So perhaps what is happening is some kind of revamping of the album. Hhopefylly, that may make it sensational...:)
