Jammy's, Digital B and Dennis Star all release about ten versions each at the same time of this riddim (spring 97). Don't know why, is the riddim really that popular? Or is it a new inventive way to make old riddim's sell?Sounds to me as if it is an old digi riddim, and my guess is that King Jammy, Bobby Digital and Dennis Star haven't even recut it. Sounds around -88 digi.(Dennis Star 1997...? I thought he was out of business years ago.)
I wrote this above early 97 and in fall 98 I got this from Yopy (Joop Stikkelman):"Greetings..... I got some information on the "cat paw" riddim . It appears on a one riddim album called "super stars hitparade volume 3" on jammy's in 1987. Produced and arranged by king jammy, engineers were jammy, bobby digital and squeengine(?). Musicians: steelie & cleevie and the super powerall stars Artists: johnny osbourne;chuck turner;pinchers;super black;josie wales(A) little john;al campbell;anthony malvo;cornell campbell;lt. stitchie (B)"So that was the case, but I still don't understand why Jammy's, Digital B and Dennis Star all release ten versions each at the same time ten years after it's initial impact. Furthermore, these versions sank into obscurety immidiately. Hmmm...Selecta August/97
