The roots wave is just getting stronger and stronger. I thought it was justa short fashion thing, as Mampie lyrics and dancehall queens in school uniforms, but it showed to be a major turn in jamaican music. But whithartists as as gifted as Sizzla, Luci, Ras Shiloh, Morgan Heritage, Bushman...(the list could go on and on) anything else would have been a shame.
Morgan Heritage assembled some of the best new talents on their ZionMedley, and followed it up with a riddim album called Morgan Heritage Family AndFriends which contains all the songs that was mixed into the medley and a few more. Altough the riddim, called Liberation, is a little to traditional to be really interesting all the involved artist does a very good job and in the end the album is really solid.
For me the best song on the riddim is Jah Cures Love Is The Solution. It'sso great. I can't go into it, because words can not do it justice. Words can not describe the beauty and sorrow of life. Only music like Jah Cures Love Is The Solution can. So no more words, find it and hear it youreself.
After this I started to search out all the Jah Cure music I could get, andalmost all of his tunes has this magic touch to it. I started to wonder if reggae music hadn't found a new talent the size of Garnet, Marley, Luciano. It was a chock to find out that Jah Cure just hadbeen sentenced to 15 years for gun possesion and rape. Yes, it seems to be true, although I still hope that it will turn out to be a rumour.Jah Cure is 19 years old.

Comment by: Dequhn Lobutua Date: 2006-05-16 Comment: This liberation riddim resonates with an african riddim called 'mugara ndega' which was a collaboration between Zimbabwean maestro Thomas Mapfumo and Misty in Roots recorded in London in the mid 1980s. Give the man some credit.
