Johnny Dollar/Mad Mad "Diseases, Jah come fe lick you with diseases.." Michigan n Smiley, really scored big with this one. The dubbel DJ teams of those days was actually a rahter good idea. It always surprices me how livley and fresh these old tunes sound. I'v got a real favorite that I play every now and then. It's a LP called Jah Standing Over Me, featuring two DJ's called Peter Rankin' and General Lucky. On the cover they pose by a picture of Hailie Selassie. They are wearing baby dreads, beards and matching training suits. Never heard of them since, but I'm sure they where the hottest act a Yard for a couple of weeks a long time ago. If you happen to have the LP I bet you haven't played it for years. Play it, you'll be surprised too. A Michigan n Smiley album will do as well I guess. Oh, I almost forgot... the riddim: Mr Soul Of Jamaica, Alton Ellis, cut Mad Mad way back when, but the riddim is these days better known as Johnny Dollar or Diseases. This is a Youth Promotion cut.
