Lallabella/Ghetto People Song
Despite so so talents when it comes to songwriting (eeh...maybe that is a little
to rude?) Everton Blender has assured himself a place in the history of reggae
music with his cut to Tony Rebel produced Lallabella riddim. The song was hugely
popular and the riddim seems to be a favourite of especially the internatinal
crowd. I've really been surprised that the riddim is so favoured by jamaican
livebands, it's surprisingly common to hear it being played live.
Anyway, nice riddim and nice song in a classic style.
After being so rude to Mr Blender I feel somewhat guilty so I'd like to take the
opportunity to big him up a little. Even though his style is a little to leightwieght
for my taste it must be said that he is really improving. His latest CD Rootsman
Credential is quite nice. I've never been a big fan of Star Trails riddims and with
this CD Blender has left Star Trail, instead working with a number of different
producers which I think is a good moove. The riddims on
"Rootsman Credential" may be minimalistic (some call it digital blipblop) but I prefer that
to Star Trails super slick recuts of S#1 material.
